ADHD TESTING

We offer Basic ADHD TESTING for all Ages.

We are pleased to inform you that our practice offers basic ADHD testing and screening for patients of all ages. This process involves an assessment of symptoms and behaviors that are commonly associated with ADHD, which can help establish a preliminary diagnosis. However, it’s important to note that this ADHD testing/screening does not constitute a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation. A neuropsychological evaluation involves a more detailed and in-depth assessment of cognitive and behavioral functions using a set of standardized tests and procedures. It provides a more detailed understanding of how different areas and systems of the brain are working.

While our ADHD testing can certainly provide valuable insights, it may not capture the full complexity of an individual’s cognitive profile like a neuropsychological evaluation would. If you or your loved ones require a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation, we would be more than happy to provide a referral to a specialist who can provide this service.

What is NeuroPsych Evaluation Testing?

Neuropsychological evaluation testing is a comprehensive assessment of cognitive and behavioral functions using a set of standardized tests and procedures. These tests evaluate a wide range of cognitive abilities including memory, attention, problem-solving, perception, language, and emotional functioning.

The purpose of neuropsychological evaluation is to understand how different areas and systems of the brain are working. It is typically used to assess the impact of neurological injuries or diseases such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, or dementia. It can also be used to evaluate conditions like ADHD, autism, depression, or anxiety, and to monitor cognitive development or recovery after an intervention. The results can guide treatment and rehabilitation plans and support educational or occupational accommodations.

Who can perform Neuropsych evaluation testing?

Neuropsychological evaluation testing is typically performed by a neuropsychologist. Neuropsychologists are licensed psychologists with specialized training in the relationship between the brain and behavior. They usually have a doctoral degree in psychology and additional postgraduate training in neuropsychology.

In some cases, a technician who is trained and supervised by the neuropsychologist may administer the tests. However, the neuropsychologist is responsible for interpreting the results and providing a comprehensive report.

It’s important to note that while other healthcare professionals such as psychiatrists, neurologists, or clinical psychologists may conduct cognitive assessments or screenings, a full neuropsychological evaluation requires specialized training in neuropsychology.

Does Brighter Life Behavioral Services Offer Neuropsych evaluation testing?

At this time, our clinic does not offer comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation testing. However, we are actively working on expanding our services and we hope to incorporate neuropsychological testing into our offerings in the near future. Until then, we continue to offer basic ADHD testing and screening for all ages. This can provide valuable insights into symptoms and behaviors associated with ADHD.

Please note that there is a fee associated with this screening. If you have any questions about the screening process or the associated costs, our team is more than happy to assist you.
